LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Christopher Newport University track and field team wrapped up the Liberty Open today with a win in the men's high jump by junior Richard Roethel who came into the event as the second seed. His 2.09m (6-10.25) jump was a personal record and put him second on CNU's all-time list. 

Sophomore Jenna Elliott finished third in the women's high jump with a personal record 1.67 (5-5.75) jump. The score moves her into second place on CNU's all-time list. 

Senior Dira Hansen wrapped up the meet today with three top-ten finishes. She came in eighth in the women's 400m with a 1:00.85 and seventh in the triple jump with a 11.11m (36-5.50) leap. Hansen was also part of the women's 4x400m relay team that finished fifth with a time of 4:08.00. Joining Hansen was Fredsal Walker, Kristen Bell, and Caitlyn Pabst.

Other top ten finishes for the Captains were Roethel's 51.59 in the men's 400m for eighth place and Erin Rolaf's 5:28.75 in the mile for a tenth place finish.

The Captains return to action next Saturday, February 4, as they host the Vince Brown Invitational in the Freeman Center.
