Women Break CNU Record in 4x800m Relay on First Day of Liberty Open

Complete Results LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Christopher Newport University women's track team had a successful first day at the Liberty Open. The foursome of Erin Rolaf, Jessica McClelland, Jade Zaharoff and Dira Hansen set the program record in the 4x800m relay. Also earning a spot on an all-time list was Jill Raines in the weight throw. The 4x800 team shaved 12 seconds off of the program record with a time of 9:53.12 today. The previous record was set in 1986 at 10:05.4 by Humphrey, Smith, Angevine, and Beale. This was the second oldest women's school record. Split times for the relay were Rolaf with 2:28.8, Hansen with2:19.4, McClelland with 2:32.5, and Zaharoff coming in at 2:32.4. Raines moved onto the all-time list in the tenth spot with her 11.50m (37-08.75) toss in the weight throw. The meet gets started again tomorrow morning at 9:00am with the men's weight throw.
